Western Australian Senate Election

The determination by the High Court on 20 February provides a fresh opportunity for the voters of WA to elect six senators to represent them in the Federal Parliament. A fresh opportunity to make sure every vote is counted.

It’s also an opportunity for the people of Western Australia to vote for representation that will hold the Abbott Government to account.

“We need a Senate that can hold Tony Abbott and Colin Barnett to account for their broken promises on WA schools, the NBN and much needed public transport infrastructure to ease congestion” said Senator Louise Pratt.

Senator Pratt said “We also need a Senate that can hold back the Abbott Government’s attacks on wages and working conditions of West Australians.”

Senator Pratt was joined at the High Court link to Perth by Member for Perth Alannah MacTiernan,

“This election is a great opportunity for Western Australians to ensure Tony Abbott and his government are properly held to account by a strong Opposition,” Ms MacTiernan said.

“Culling infrastructure investment in WA is unacceptable when we are punching so well above our weight with GST contributions.

“This is an opportunity to show support for pro-jobs policies, for a fair wages system, and for a real NBN.”

Western Australians have already waited too long for a result from a long legal process.  Labor in WA looks forward in to the election date being known and is ready for the fight.
