It’s important to recognise that the effects of the global down turn are far more pronounced in the developing world that they are in developed countries like Australia. This is resulting in a severe human cost that disproportionately affecting women and children.

Cleanstart Campaign I was delighted to meet with LHMU Delegates who visited Parliament to talk to Senators and Members about their CleanStart campaign to lift standards in the cleaning industry and improve wages and conditions for workers. There work inspired this Adjournment Speech to the Senate.

It is a complete travesty that the Student Services Bill has now been defeated – this is a terrible outcome for life on campus, education quality and, particularly, for international students, who need the support of strong student support services and student organisations on campus.
